I’m failing first year university, whats going to happen next?
I’m in an arts program and I wish I went into business. My life has been so stressful and that’s part of the reason i’ve been doing so bad. My dad has a brain tumor, and my parents are divorced so i’m really the only one that can take care of him.
I’m taking 4 courses and failing 2 of them for sure. the other 2 should be in the 70 range.
Other universities won’t except me now right? What should I do?
go to a guidance counsellor, there may be a deferral system in place for special circumstances like yours which allow you to repeat the year without doing the final year exam so that it won’t go on your record that you failed.
Don’t worry, you are not the first person something like this has happened to and it may look dark now but there will be a way around it, i promise.

How do I help my son break the cycle of emotional abuse of his stepfather?
I’m divorcing my 13 year old boys stepfather mainly because of emotional abuse. How do I help my son realize he shouldn’t feel obligated to a stepfather that hasn’t been there for him unless it was for his fathers own benefit or to hurt me? My ex only wants my son around to talk down about me or if it will help him keep tabs on me. Everytime I try to explain to my son what is going on I end up looking like a wicked witch. My ex makes my son feel sorry for him by continuously pointing out all my wrong doings, in his world everything thats wrong with his life is because of someone else. I dont want my son to have to accept this behavior because this man is his dad,and he feels he must remain loyal to him. But on the other hand I won’t allow myself to stoop to this level and bad mouth my son’s father to him, the last thing I want is for my son not to like or love his dad.
It seems that you have identified all of these transgressions for your son yet he does not see them.
Perhaps the reason he is not buying into your analysis of the situation is because he can see both sides. This may also be the reason you end up looking so shabby when you try to break the bond, which I might add you created by bring this man into his life.
You have taken the path where you are holding yourself up as some kind of martyr ( not saying anything bad? or sttoping to his level?).
I do not know what your issue is with your husband but you have taken the wrong tack in attempting to break the father son relationship. Now matter how you color it that is what is going on here. What is worse is that you are trying to lay blame on his father and try to label the guy with terms like abuse yet also don’t like him explaining his side to the son.
You attribute this to his his talking down about you.
You really must stop and examine your motives.
It will take some pretty grevious things to go on for that bond to be broken. To try will make you look like you are trying to take his father away. Of course the boy will fight that. You decided that husband was not there for him. It does not sound like he believes that.
The further problem is that you brought this man into your life after your son was born thus stepfather. Now, a few years later you are claiming emotional abuse ( which in itself is a stretch) . Before you get into the habit of changing another man you may want to take a hard look at your own attitude and actions.
Emotional abuse is a derogitory term for labeling someone who essentially hurt your feelings. Sorry but that is the sign of your own weakness and only happens because you let it. Get some therapy.
