How is the State of Florida Disbursement Unit Different From the Old Process?
1. The State of Florida Disbursement Unit will collect and disburse the following types of child support payments:
2. All child support cases enforced by the Department of Revenue, Child Support Program pursuant Title IV-D of the Social Security Act.
3. All child support not being enforced by the Department pursuant to Title IV-D of the Social Security Act in which the initial support order was issued on or after January 1, 1994 and in which the obligor’s child support obligation is being paid through income deduction.
Where Are Child Support Payments to be Mailed?
Instead of payments being mailed to 67 different county agencies, all payments are emailed to and processed at a central location in Tallahassee.

What about Billing and Notices?
The Florida State Disbursement Unit provides payor with monthly statements of account. Payment coupons are included with the statements for the payor’s convenience. The Florida State Disbursement Unit sends employers and Employer Withholding List or payment coupons for all of their employees subject to income withholding. The employers will be instructed to send the list or coupon to the Florida State Disbursement Unit along with the child support payments for their employees.
How Long with the Florida State Disbursement Unit Take to Process my Payments?
The Florida State Disbursement Unit will process the support payments the same day that the payments are received, every regular work day, Monday through Friday, except legal holidays.
Other important Information:
State and Federal Laws require that all collections received must be applied first toward current child support due in the month of receipt. After current support is paid for the month, any additional amounts are distributed to child support arrears, or other support related debts.
Other child support services, including establishment and enforcement of child support orders, continue to be handled by the local Department of Revenue.
