divorce during bankruptcy
Can bankruptcy bail you out from paying a court ordered judgment?

I just got my divorce finalized, the court awarded me a significant judgment from the ex. I wanted to know if the ex filed for bankruptcy, can that bail them out from paying me? Since I had to represent myself due to the fact the ex emptied my bank account and they were able to use $$ for an attorney, I could only afford to get legal advice during the process. I was told by an attorney that you have to request the court for a specific request? I asked the judge about it and he said he did not know what I was talking about? Any thoughts?? Thanks

Go to a legal aid office in your area. You may qualify for free representation or at least a reduced fee.

You need an attorney.
